Silverstone Classic 2013

Another boiling hot day, it must be a visit to Silverstone. Apart from keeping my tan topped up this year, it has also given me a great opportunity to continue with my Motorsport photography.

This time round it was a visit to Silverstone’s Classic Car event for 2013. Not only is there a series of races over the weekend, but also a number of car clubs coming together to display. So from a photography point of view, theres was plenty to keep you entertained.

I had decided before I went that I wanted to concentrate more the static displays rather than the racing. What I hadn’t accounted for was how reflective these cars are. They show up just about everything around them, and this wasn’t helped with the extreme sun we were experiencing. so it was reflection city!!!

Therefore I decided to try and concentrate on detail shots, and in particular the lines of the cars on show. I did capture some shots of complete cars where possible, but the backgrounds were never clean.

Anyway a number of shots below, and next year I will defiantly go back with a view to attending the whole weekend. Oh and I’ll also make sure next time I’m not wearing a white shirt that reflects in the bonnets of the cars!!
